Costco – Mikasa Whitehall 20 Piece Dinnerware Set

Thank you for visiting.

I finally found China set I like at Costco.

I’ve been looking for a dinnerware set for 10-15 years.   I used to complain that nobody seemed to be selling normal looking dinnerwares anymore.  All the plates I see at the stores have weird shapes or they have stupid drawings.  If I find good looking white plates, they tend to be expensive.

I finally found plain white dinnerware set at Costco.  They were only $39.99.

I’ve been using cheap dinnerware that was given to me from various people.  I was never happy with my plates and bowls, but I had no choice because I couldn’t find china I like.

I love my Mikasa’s Whitehall 20 piece dinnerware set.  I am still thinking about buying one more set as a backup (or if I marry somebody with 3 kids).   They are just right for me.  They are practical, plain (not artistic or snotty), and cheap.

Update:  I am really happy with these china set.   They even feel good in my hands when I do the dishes.  It a pleasure…. only $39.99. It’s ridiculous.  I am loving them.  I wish I can find a Costco version of female for my wife. I don’t even know what that means, but it sounds cool.

I took this picture 1 day earlier.  I came home from Costco shopping and looked at the picture again. And I decided to go back to Costco next day to make a purchase.

I’ve been using these for 10+ years. You see all kinds of different plates and bowls that don’t match.  Also they look cheap.

They seem to make my cupboard looks more complete and practical. I feel more settled down with these china.  I feel more satisfied in the kitchen.

PS. You see Homer Simpson coffee mug?  That’s my work day coffee mug.  I only use it at work.  It’s put away in the cupboard.  That means I took that picture during the weekend.  On weekend I use Sunday coffee mug.

I shall do a story on my coffee mugs.  I use different coffee mugs for work, home, weekend, driving, tea, hot cocoa, Christmas season, and photography.

Christmas 2012 Approaching Fast – At Costco

Thank you for visiting.

It’s 3am, Tueday May 29, 2012.

Yesterday was Memorial Day.

Memorial Day marks unofficial beginning of Summer.   It also means we are approaching the peak of the year (The hump month, so to speak).

To me, Memorial Day also means Christmas is coming to Costco in about 2 months.  They usually bring out ribbons with holiday design around July.  And we shall see snow man and rudolph by August.  That’s roughly 2 months from now.

So, to celebrate, I am listening to Christmas music right now at 3am.  I also watched Polar Express earlier.

I should start practicing Christmas music with my guitar.  It takes 3-4 months to practice one song.  I am not talented, so I need many months of practice.

I won $100 last year for playing a Christmas tune for my family.  (Anyone participated won $100.  It was not fair, because some of them performed more than one act, and won $200+ Yell).  Haha…  It’s OK.

I am going to give it about 10 more weeks.  Then we are going to start seeing Christmas at Costco.  I better be good for goodness sake, because I have a list for Santa this year.

Looking for a house to buy

Thank you for visiting.

I am officially looking for a house to buy.  I started to look today.

I’ve been saving and waiting.  I think now is time to buy a house.
I have almost perfect FICO score.  I saved enough for down payment.

For many years, I’ve been not eating things I wanted to eat. I’ve been drinking water instead of soda.  I was very careful with money.

When I become a home owner I will have to rent out at least one room.  I hope I make more money, so I can live alone.  I can’t trust anyone to live in my house.

Anyway, this will be my only blog about house shopping.

Maybe, one day, you will notice that backgrounds of my pictures are different.
Maybe not 🙁

I wanted to find true love while I live in this small apartment.  That was my dream wish.  But, it’s OK.  I’ll just keep it positive as always.

I am so looking foward to 3 days Memorial Day Weekend.
Talk to you later.

HEY!  Get off my lawn!  Damn kids.
Hehe, just practicing.

Terrified – The Weekend of Horror

Thank you for visiting.

I was at my computer desk in the living room with the front door opened.   I like to open my front door so I can feel the cool fresh air.  Today is Saturday and everything was beautiful.

I heard some bird chirping close by.  Soon, one bird flew inside my apartment, it flew right by my head, and flew in to my bedroom.

Imagine the terror!  I freak out when I see bee.  Last week a lizard came in to my living room and I almost passed out.  This time it was a huge animal.

My neighbor, an old lady, told me that a smaller bird was being chased by a crow.  The bird flew in to my apartment to hide, and the crow almost followed in as well, she said.  Can you imagine that?  2 Birds?  A crow?

I grabbed a broom and slowly looked for the bird.  It was terrifying.  I finally found the bird.  I used the broom to chase the bird away, but that backfired.  This time I really lost the bird.  Now I had no idea if the bird was in my apartment or not.

So, I left the door opened…  and I fell alseep on the couch.

The old lady’s granddaughter (early teen) woke me from the nap.  She asked me to look for the bird again that she would like to keep the bird for herself.  I found the bird inside the bedroom.  Oh, my God, it was disgusting.  The bird actually grew bigger while I was taking a nap!!

My neighbor with her granddaughter came in to my bedroom and we shut the door behind us.  The bird was flying in my bedroom.  This was a nightmare.   At one point both the granddaughter and I screamed like a little girl.  Then the girl saw me screaming like a girl, and started to laugh.  🙁

Finally, the grandmother caught the bird with her bare hands.  What a trooper.  I think she’s got pecked by the bird.  After a quick photoshoot, she released the bird.  It flew and reunited with the family.

I came back home and washed my hands like there was no tomorrow.

PS. Next day my neighbor told me that she faked being pecked by the bird to scare me even more.

Update: Next day, Sunday morning.

My other neighbor made me Sunday breakfast.  (I love my apartment.  I know a lot of people.)  I told her about the bird incident and we had a big laugh.  Then I looked at my neighbor’s cat.  She was playing with what appeared to be a toy lizard.  And then it hit me.  Oh my God, not again.  Make it stop!

“Please tell me that is a toy lizard” I begged to my neighbor.  “Oh! not again” she complained, and she picked up the lizard with her bare hand.

With her bare hand!!

I almost lost my breakfast right there.  Too much, man… too much in one weekend.

Look at that evil face…

PS. Did you notice those two animals have an exact same facial expression?  As if they shared a note…

Costco Package Design – Kirkland Signature

Thank you for visiting.

I would like to pay respect, and give salute to the designer who created this classic Costco design.  We don’t think much of it in our everyday lives.   But, I would be upset if they take away this design.

My experience with Costco will not be the same without these red boxes.  I love those flash and lightning effects.

Look at the design on Energy Shot.  The design reminds me of brain wave, muscle tissue, surge of power, etc.  The design actually represents what Energy Shot is about.  It sold me.  It made me want to buy a box.

Design is folksy (not snotty), effective, tells story, catches eyes, and it feels like this is how it’s supposed to be.  This is a great design.

I also like the check marked list.

Thank you designer, whoever you are.

Favorite Time of the Week – Saturday Morning

Thank you for visiting.

Oh how I love Saturday morning.  It’s my favorite time of the week.  Today is the day of endless possibilities, good food, rest, TV, and music.  And, the weekend is just starting.  I still have Sunday coming up.  That’s too much good stuff.

Every weekend is a mini vacation.  Thank God for the weekend.  God bless those who don’t get weekend off. (God bless single people).

As a weekend ritual, first I pick out the scented candle I would like to burn for the day.  And I make my weekend coffee.  I drink Cubita coffee in my Krispy Kreme coffee mug (AKA Sunday coffee mug).  I love this coffee mug.  I like to eat Costco’s Christmas cookies with my weekend coffee.

I took below picture just now.  I am listening to funky 70’s Country Music  (Donna Fargo, Margo Smith, Connie Smith, Barbara Mandrell… oh, Conway Twitty, of course.).

My parents are out of town, so I will not be visiting them.  My mother is enjoying her mother’s day trip.  So, I will be totally free this weekend. It’s a beautiful weekend.

Have fun everyone.  Take care.

Sunday Coffee

I thought my blog was done for the day.  Then I got this guy in the mail box.

Check this out, free unlimited movie rental for a month at Block Buster (one movie at a time).

So, I opened a "Blue Ticket" membership account.  I marked Saturday June 9 to cancel membership (28 days, to stay safe).  I estimate I will copy about 80 movies in 28 days (don’t ask me how I do this).  Movies will look good on my new TV.

OMG, my dinner came out perfect.  I had to use 3 kitchen timers at the same time.  I eat vegetarian Monday to Friday.  I don’t even drink soda during the weekdays.  Weekend is when I eat for fun.

Check out the white plate.   It’s new from Costco.  I tell you about that later.

Buying a TV

Thank you for visiting.

Update: posted bottom of this page

I have 2 old style Television sets.  They are both 27 Inches, and pictures are great.  So, I had no intention of buying new TVs.

TVs are major appliances, I need to save money to buy a house, I thought…

Then, today, I checked prices on TVs?  They are so cheap.  I can buy a decent 32" TV for about $300.00.  That’s rediculous.  I love TV.  TV is my best friend (I know it’s pathetic, but that’s how it is when you are single).  I have hours of enjoyment every day from TV.  I will get thousands of Dollars worth of fun from a new TV.

I think I am going to buy a 32" TV very soon.  In fact, I shall grab my tape measure and head out to Costco after work tonight.  I would love to watch Darlington Races on wide screen.

I shall buy a really big screen TV when I have a house.

7 hours after I decided to by a new TV, I went to Costco and found 32" Samsung HD TV.  This unit was $339.99 after $30.00 instant rebate.  That’s cheaper than my Vitamix blender.  There were number of cheaper units.  But, I bought the most expensive 32" there.  It had the best picture quality.  It took me less than 10 minutes to decide on this unit.

I ate a hot dog and bought gas before I headed back home.

After I took the TV home, I took a crash course on HD TV setup.

I learned that I need to rent a HD cable box which will cost me extra $4-$5/mo.  So, I will drive across the town tomorrow on my lunch time to exchange cable boxes.

Then I’ll have to pick up some HDMI cables after work.  I will buy the cheapest HDMI cabels.  I do not t believe in expensive cable myth.  HD TV is digital signal.  Signals are in 0’s and 1’s.  Either it’s on or off.  You don’t need expensive cable.  That’s my belief.

Finally, I will enjoy high definition television .  I have waited long enough.

I am glad I came to Costco for a quick shopping.  I wanted to see picture quality myself.  The convenience, speed, and piece of mind was well worth of avoiding online shopping.

I was satisfied with my shopping experience.

Update: I called Verizon and asked for cable package upgrade, discount, and price lock for 2 years.  Now, I will pay $120/mo for TV, Cable, & Internet ($15 less than before). And I will have 65 HD Channels.  They will also send me $250 gift credit card.  So, my phone call to Verizon paid for my new HD TV plus $250 cash card.

So, call your cable company for special offer.  If you don’t ask, you lose.

I am very happy with my first High Definition TV.  Picture quality is amazing.  TV was only $339.99.  Life is good when your standard is low.  (Don’t tell that to my ex girlfriends).

Ipdate 2: A few days later, I still cannot believe how amazing this High Definition Television quality is.  I know my TV doesn’t have the best picture quality.  Still, I am blown away.   I heard that they have a prototype TV with 16 times better picture quality than HD TV.  Amazing stuff.

Experiment – Costco Pep Shots

Thank you for visiting.

As you know, I’ve been slowing down on my blog considerably.  I feel tired and slow lately.  I have a lot of work and all..  Then I thought this would be the perfect time for a little experiment.

You see, Costco sells energy shots, they look very much like popular 5 hour energy shot. I am going to try them Costco energy shots and we shall see if I will update my blog more often.  This will be fun.

Maybe I will go to Costco tomorrow to pick up those pep shots.
Ah~~ I don’t feel like doing it today.

### Update ###

It’s Saturday.  I slept 3 hours this morning and visited my parents.  We had a nice lunch, but I was tired.  On my way home I dropped by at Costco there and picked up Kirkland Signature Energy Shots (and a lobster tail, hehe).  I came back home (apartment) at 3:30pm.

At home, I was dozing off on the couch.  I was missing out on good TV.  So, I took one shot of Costco Energy Shot.  It was a grape flavor.  I guess it tastes OK.  I don’t drink this for taste, so..

Oh my God, I think it works.  I am no longer sleepy.  I jut took some pictures of the pep shots (below).  I shall steam the lobster soon.

My plan is to take this Energy Shot after work.  I will doze off during the business hours, that’s no problem.  But, I would like to get a second wind after work, so I will take care of my personal stuff.

I wil update this blog as I use it more.

PS. Lobster was fantastic.

Monday May 7, 2012:  I took one energy shot at 5pm, before I got off work.  Now it’s 2:30am (Tuesday), and I am still awake.  I just had some midnight snack.  I think should drink just a half a shot of these.  I think my body is too small(?) to drink a whole bottle.  Maybe my body needs to get used to this stuff.  I am now going to take a shower and try to go to sleep.  I am worried if I will be tired tomorrow at work.  Oh, I will take a shot of Energy!  Nothing to worry about here, hehe…
