Chit Chat - Show and Tell

Feb
06

I just took 2 pictures (below).  I thought I chit chat and catch up.  It's been some time. :)

It was Friday after work on the checkout line at Costco .  I had three items in my cart and was anxious to start the weekend.  In front of me was an old man with a cart full of stuff.  He was in his 70's.  The cashier pointed out that his membership was expired.  The old man didn't want to renew his membership.  The old man and the cashier had a long conversation. Then some stranger (gentleman) offered his membership card to him.  But, that would only work if the old man had cash, which he didn't.  The stranger told the old man to go get cash, that he would wait for him.  It went on and on... and people stuck behind him wanted to go home.

Finally, the poor old man gave up and walked away.  I felt bad... poor old man.

That's when I turn to the cashier.  I said "Can I have his pineapple?"

I spent $4 Saturday at garage sales.  I love garage sales.  Garage sales are fun and exciting.

(picture above) I bought a small glass cake dome for $1.  Sodastream was $2.  It came with the CO2 tank that's not empty yet.  Sodastreams normally sell for $60 and up.

Then I went to this garage sale where everything he had was cheap and dusty.  I saw this little box of full of junk.  But, this box was interesting. I saw one item that looked like a vintage silver.  So, I offered him $1 for the entire box.

I took the little box home.  Indeed, most items were trash, but I found 2 pieces of silver.  And I found an elongated penny from 1934 Chicago World's Fair.  They sell for $10-$35 at eBay.

Not happy with Costco tulips

Jan
31

* Update: I found out after writing this blog that the tulips I like is called "Triumph."  So, basically I bought the wrong kind of tulip bulbs. But, my review stays the same.  The bulbs I bought from Costco didn't bring me much joy and satisfacion.

* This is my personal opinion.  Some (a lot of) people may not agree with me.  Additionally, I still have a faith in Costco, because the flowers did look like the picture on the package.  I didn't know there were differnt breeds of tulips.  Costco was selling less expensive kind.

Last year, I bought some tulip bulbs from Costco, but they were disappointing.  Flowers bloomed OK, but I was not satisfied with the quality and performance of them.

These Costco Tulips were not the kind of tulips that most people desire.  These were "K-Mart versions" of tulips.  Flower were small and "ugly".  They bloomed for only a few days.  It was cute, I did it once, but I shall not repeat it this year.  I will buy more expensive tulip bulbs from local garden center.

Below picture is tulips I brought from Costco (2015).  All 50 bulbs produced flowers similar to this.

At the same time last year, I bought a few tulip bulbs from local garden center.  They were much more expensive.  But they brought me more joy and satisfaction.  Flowers stayed bloomed for much longer time.  I am looking forward to grow these tulips again this Spring.

Below is images of a tulip I bought from local garden center.

Christmas 2015 - Cubicle Decoration

Dec
23

Merry Christmas

Here are some of the pictures of my cubicle at work.  I wasn't able to enjoy Christmas last 2 years, but I'm back stronger than ever.  I had so much fun so far.  It's been glorious. I am sad that the season is almost over.  But, we still have almost 2 more weeks to enjoy.

Who cares if Christmas was created by greedy corporate people?  I thank God for greedy corporate people.

Some people try to make it a point NOT to celebrate Christmas, so they can stand againt the culture molded by capitalistic "pigs" - and they hope that I would avoid this 2 months of absolute joy every year.  All I can say to them is... Merry Christmas~!!!

Vizio Sound Bar at Costco (SB4051-C0 40) - Pre-Thanksgiving

Nov
25

* This purchase pays for your Costco membership.

I bought a Christmas gift to myself from Costco website.

Vizio SB4051-C0 40" 5.1 Bluetooth Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer.

Vizio Soun Bar Costco Saving

I saw this Vizio sound bar on Costco's Pre-Thanksgiving flyer. It was $199.99 after $80.00 discount.  I've been searching for some kind of audio system for my TV for last year or so.  There are many cheaper options available.  But I cannot allow cheap sound in my house because I love watching TV (and proud).  This unit caught my attention because it was right at my budget after $80 off.  When it comes to sound system, (usually) you get better sound quality as you spend more money.  So, you want to spend maximum amount of money within your budget.

This Vizio sound bar does exactly what I want it to do.  It sits behind my TV that I can barely see it's there.  The subwooper is hidden on the floor behind the TV.  My TV remote controls the volume of the sound bar.  Music channels sound amazing with this.

The volume goes up to level 35.  I normally watch TV at level 7-10.  Level 20 is too loud that I cannot enjoy watching TV that way.  When I listen to music channel, I may raise the volume to level 20-25 but only for a few minutes.  Volume level 35 is not realiatic for me.

As a TV lover, this sound bar dramatically improves my life style.  I am really enjoying this.

FYI:  I still haven't installed the satellite speakers.

Vizio Sound Bar SB4051-C0 - Costco

Costco's Vizio Sound Bar circled.  Sitting behind the TV.

I came a long way.  When I first started my blog, I had a 9 Inch TV in my living room.

Kitchen Towels Suck - all of them

Nov
22

I don't know why people buy, sell, & use kitchen towels like these.  yes, I own several of them myself (picture below).  But these towels SUCK!.  They don't perform well as I want them to. They are too small and thin that they quickly become soaking wet.  They need to be thicker and larger.  Dish towels have been around for many years... but am I the only person with this complain?  Are you guys happy with your dish towels?

I keep some of the dish towels just because I want to follow the tradition.  I may even use them when I have formal guests.  But what really works for me is bathroom hand towels (28 to 30 Inches long).

I don't know what kind of dish towels you guys use.  To me, nothing even comes close to bathroom hand towels, and I will continue to use them in the kitchen.

FYI: The towels I use in the kitchen are from Costco.  :)

Costco Shopping for Thanksgiving Dinner

Nov
22

Oh boy, I am excited about the turkey I'm going to bake in a few days.  I decided to take a short-cut on side dishes - I bought them all pre-made.  I am not done shopping yet.  I still need some snacks, a pie, and drinks.

The turkey is 20 lb.
