Costco Coupons May 7 - May 31, 2015

May

Costco coupon book is out.  I see a lot of good stuff to buy this month.

If you are a dog owner check out NUBZ (edible) dog chew.  I have a few bags of these.  I gave them to 4 dogs so far? They all loved them.  It's supposed to be good for their teeth.  I plan to test them out on other dogs in my neighborhood (I will update you).  So far all dogs went crazy over NUBZ even before I took it out from the package.

They are $4 off during this coupon period.

Costco Shopping (Morning) April 12, 2015

Apr
12

I went to my local Costco at 10AM as they open the door Sunday morning.  I believe this was my first time shopping at Costco on Sunday morning.  Parking lot was almost full when they opened the door.  The place was packed in no time.  Long lines started to form right away.

There was a $20.00 coupon on Water Ridge kitchen faucet. I bought this exact faucet three months ago without a coupon ($78, 99).   So, today I bought the faucet at $58.99 and returned it on my old receipt for $78.99 back.  I brought a copy (print out) of my old receipt.  There was no issue using my print out receipt.

I like Doritos.  I like chips, period.  But, I rarely buy (eat) chips because they are bad for you.  There was $1.70 coupon on this bag of Doritos, so I made an exception today.

What you don't see in the picture is 2 cases of Perrier (24 bottles each).

Coupon saved $38.70

After shopping I had a hotdog for breakfast.

Visiting San Francisco Bay Area Costco - March 2015

Mar
29

March 2015

It was an exciting weekend.  I visited Costco in San Francisco Bay Area.  Flying from Burbank to Oakland was just about an hour.  I rarely leave my comfort zone.  It was exciting to face the unknown.

Friday: I arrived at San Francisco Bay area late evening. The first thing I noticed was that people seemed classier in San Francisco Bay Area.  We went to a fast food restaurant for a late night bite.  Young people working there were classier than what I was used to.  Later, a bunch of high-school kids walked in for Friday night fun.  It was a group of kids in mixed races.  They were all well behaved, quiet, and classy.  Throughout the weekend, I saw nothing but classy people.  People were different there.  It was strange, and I liked it.

Saturday: We took BART, a public transportation subway system, to down town San Francisco for lunch.  It was not busy because today was Saturday.  But, now I know how people in the Bay area commute to the big city every day.

I had a good, authentic Chinese food for lunch.  Then I learned that they didn't take credit cards. Pretty much all restaurants in China Town had "Cash Only" signs.

Sunday: We went to Costco in Danville (San Francisco Bay Area).  The entire warehouse looked familiar, except they had an insane amount of coffees.  They had about twice as many coffee varieties compared to Costco in my area.  For example, at my Costco we have Peet's coffee (Major Dickason's Blend).  At Danville Costco, they had Peet's Coffee AND Peet's Coffee Organic.  Most coffees had organic versions at extra cost.

It was cool to see San Francisco Giant "World Series Champion" hoodies.  I felt the patriotism.

I didn't buy anything because I was flying back home in a few hours.

It was a glorious weekend I will never forget.  Good times..

Costco Shopping - March 25, 2015

Mar

Good times. :)

I went to Costco after work for a quick shopping, and I sampled this amazing fish stick.  "Please have some more," the lady said.  So, I took one more sample and took a bag home.

I thought garlic flavored olive oil was interesting.  I shall give it a try, but I like it already.

Costco pineapples are so good and so cheap.

I cut the rotisserie chicken in half and vacuum packed it for later (single life 101).  It's a lot of bird for one person that I often get sick of it half way through.  This vacuumed packed half chicken will be good for several months.

Palmolive dish soap is really good.  I compared Palmolive with cheaper brand.  Palmolive is thicker and stronger.. and it cleans more.  Cheaper brands are watered down.  They are quite frustrating.

Instant coupons saved $7.50.

*Photograph taken with iPhone.  iPhones take OK pictures.  But, picture quality is pretty bad compared to REAL cameras (any pocket camera).

Costco Shopping - March 13, 2015

Mar
13

It was a big shopping day at Costco.  I also did car wash and pumped gas in my car.

I bought staple items such as kitchen sponges, frozen foods, pancake mix, shampoo, conditioner, toilet papers, and laundry detergent.  They will last a few months. Kitchen sponges and pancake mix will last over a year.

Coupons saved $39.80

Frozen edamame & broccoli florets are quality food items.  They are tasty and ready to eat in a few minutes.  And they are good for you.  I would snack on these instead of potato chips. I try to make small effort here and there so I can enjoy healthy life-style.

I bought melatonin & Beano for the first time.  Lately I find myself traveling and sleeping over at strange places.  I shall try them and see if they will enhance my life-style.  (embarrassing).

I treated myself with turkey jerky.  Yum.

San Francisco & Georgia - Stories coming up

Mar
10

I've been busy.  But, for good reasons.

I went to Costco in San Francisco Bay area.  AND, I went to Costco in Atlanta Georgia.  It was super fun.  Crazy good times. :)  I love Georgia.  How come we don't have Waffle House and Cracker Barrel in California?  Anyway...

Stories coming up.

Please let me know if I can visit you for the weekend.  Anywhere in the world.  You don't have to take me to Costco.  I just want to experience different life, relax, and make memories.

Costco Olive Oil for a Vase

Feb
22

I go to garage sales every Saturday morning.

This nice lady had garage sale for three straight weekends.  She kept bringing out new items, so I kept going to her house.  And I got to know her a little.  Of course, she quickly learned that I was a Costco shopper.  "The only thing I buy from Costco is olive oil", she said.  Then she told me I can pick any one item from her garage sale if I would bring her a bottle of olive oil from Costco.

So, I picked this vase. "You have a good taste" she said with a smile.  This vase is about 35 years old.  It was her wedding gift from a rich friend of hers, she explained.  She was selling it for $15.00.  I love this vase.  I can't wait to use it for my flowers.  This vase will be cherished for ever. It has a good sentimental value that money can't buy.

PS. Costco sells about 4 different kinds of olive oils.  I bought the best one for her.

No more American Express at Costco

Feb
22

Partnership between American Express and Costco will dissolve March 31, 2016

Currently, American Express is the only accepted credit card in Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Other forms of payment accepted at Canadian, United Kingdom, and United States Costco locations include cash, Costco Cash Cards, Costco credit cards, checks, EBT cards (food stamps), and PIN-based debit cards (Interac in Canada). Costco also accepts Flexible spending account (FSA) debit cards for qualifying purchases at the optical and pharmacy departments in the U.S.

Online, Costco.com accepts the American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa cards. The website also accepts PayPal Credit accounts for payment.

As of January 1, 2015 MasterCard is the only accepted credit card at Costco warehouses in Canada.

As of February 12, 2015, the 16 year partnership between American Express and Costco will dissolve March 31, 2016, meaning that Costco will no longer accept American Express credit cards and members that enrolled in TrueEarnings Costco-American Express cards will no longer be able to use it anywhere else within the United States after March 31, 2016. There may be some leeway to this date, where the cards may be accepted beyond March 31, 2016, but it depends on what happens between the two companies in the following months. American Express mentioned that it and Costco failed to reach an agreement that would have continued their partnership beyond March 31, 2016, the end date of their contract. The department between American Express and Costco will have a large impact on consumers because Costco is one of the few large-scale retailers that only accepts American Express and not Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. However, Costco accepts debit cards from Visa and MasterCard. The TrueEarnings Costco-American Express card does not have an annual fee and offers cash back on certain tiers of purchases. American Express however, offers a deal to new cardholders, such as zero percent interest for six months, followed by a variable rate at 15.24%. The result of the termination of contracts between the two companies will open doors to other financial service companies. Although Costco has not confirmed their new and upcoming credit card holder, it has been rumored though that Costco may consider adopting MasterCard and Capital One to replace American Express.
