LED Tubes at Costco

The new technology is here.  And it's available at Costco.  This is quickly becoming an old news.  But, for now, I am excited about this new technology.

You can now replace 4 feet florescent tubes with LEDs without modifying internal wiring of the fixture.  You simply replace the tubes.  They are expensive, but not by much.  I replaced 4 tubes in the kitchen ceiling, and I am happy about how they perform.  They save electricity.  They will last 45 years.  So, I wrote down the installation date on the tubes.  If they stop working after only 44 years, I will take them back for a refund.

Technical Info

  • Uses 17 Watts (instead of normal 40 Watts)
  • Instant on
  • No humming (buzzing) noise.
  • Cool white 4100k color
  • 50,000 run hours (45 years in normal use)

(picture below) 7 months ago, In February 2015, I bought 2 LED light fixtures for my garage.  I've been dreading about installing them for 7 months.  Thanks to the new technology, I no longer have to replace the entire light fixture anymore (or modify wiring).   I took those lights fixtures back to Costco and bought the new tubes.  It took 5 minutes to replace the tubes in the garage.  My laziness paid up.  Now my garage is super bright that I can perform appendectomy.  Hand me the box cutter.

This irritates me.  Did he mean November 2004? or April 2011 ?

Below: 2 LED fixtures for my garage that I returned 7 months later.

That blows

I saw this super expensive hair dryer at Costco for a short time.  Then they were gone and I never saw them again.

At that time, I was wondering about its performance.  So, I texted a friend of mine who was a professional hair designer (for 20+ years).

It's a bad review.  Since Costco doesn't seem to carry it anymore I thought I share the conversation.

Update: Business? or Pleasure?

This is an update from my August 1, 2015 post, Business? or Pleasure?

I thought the ball was on my court.  If I was to respond to her note I shouldn't keep her waiting too long.  I don't believe in making girls wait 3 days before calling.  I like girls who appreciate good guys.

Anyway, I sent her a quick email.
I told her that I appreciated her hand written card.  I said I was happy with the bank and the only complaint was that I didn't see her often.  But, I didn't "Ask her out".  I figured, if she was truly interested, she would reply to my email.

Then a few weeks passed without her reply.  Now I feel awkward and stupid that I sent that email. I believe, now, that the card was only a business.  It's embarrassing, but, really, her card was confusing.  Anyway...

Oh, no, I can never show my face at the bank, of course.  :(

Maybe I will just visit her and say   "So..?  Are we gonna do this or what?"  Haha!!

Business? or Pleasure?

Oh my God, you guys.  I am SO~~ confused.

I have an account with a small bank that has only several branch locations.  They happened to have a branch close to my work, so I've been using that branch for 2 1/2 years.

Whenever I go there, I would see this teller lady, I will call her Ms. Moolah.  Ms Moolah is a classy older woman with glasses.  For two and a half years, I have never seen her wearing the same clothes twice. We exchange small talk whenever I see her.  I like her and I find her attractive.  She has to know that I like her.

One day, on my lunch time, I went to the bank for a routine deposit and saw Ms. Moolah standing out in the lobby area.  It was the first time seeing her not sitting behind the counter.  So, I gave her a hug.  She hugged me back.  Then she went back behind the counter to take care of me.  I told her how she was always looking good.  "Good for you" I said.  Then I went back to work.

Three days later, I received a card from the bank.  It was a hand-written card from Ms. Moolah herself.   She also included her business card with her email address.

I am SO~~~ confused.  What do you make out of this?  What should I do?

Couldn't Wait for Costco - Bought 4 Pairs of Black Jeans

I desparately needed some black jeans.  My current black jeans faded so much that I was looking poor.

I work at a large company where I am allowed to wear blue jeans.  But, I refuse to wear blue jeans at work.  There are 700 people working at my job and people wearing blue jeans are the ones working at low paying departments (this sounds mean, but I'm just reporting the fact).

Nobody wears blue jeans in my side of the building.  People wear slacks and dress shirts here.   I am a computer guy, so I can get away with black jeans, but I want them clean and new.

Anyway, I gave up waiting for Calvin Klein black jeans at Costco and bought 4 pairs of brand name jeans.  I will not say the name of the brand.

The first thing I did was to took off all the brand name markings such as large leather flaps and tiny red logos.  I was poor not too long ago, and I hate showing off brand name logos and markings of any kind.  It is against my philosophy.  If they want me to wear their brand names, they should pay me.

Like the 80's rap group RUN DMC said...

Cause Calvin Klein's no friend of mine
Don't want nobody's name on my behind

Woolite Darks

*June 2015

Woolite Darks is the perfect example why you should shop at Costco regularly and keep your eyes open.

Costco doesn't stock Woolite Darks all the time.  After they are gone they may not come back for several months.  So, get them while you can.

I never knew such thing as Woolite Darks existed.  They are laundry detergent for dark clothes.  This makes perfect sense. I felt stupid that I didn't discover Woolite Darks sooner.

Check out the features. (from official website)

  • Dark colors stay vivid and bold for longer
  • Keep your clothes looking like new longer
  • Clothes like new even after 20 washes
  • Does not cause fading, shrinking or stretching
  • Ultimate protection for clothes with refreshing Midnight Breeze scent

After several months of waiting, I finally saw Woolite Darks at Costco.  I was getting sick of waiting for them, so, I bought 5 jugs.  Each jug was $12 after $3 instant coupon.  That's a pretty good price.  Both Target & Wal*mart sell 100 Ounce bottles for $14 each.  Costco's jugs are 133 Ounces each.

I still have a few full jugs of regular laundry detergent for regular colors.

From this point, I shall separate my laundry in 4 different categories; darks, colored regular, whites, and towels.

I'm ready to make some bubbles.
