Let the treasure hunt begin.

The doors to the first ever Costco in Peterborough opened today at 8 a. m.

Last night at an invitation-only pre-celebration, eager customers, business people and local politicians got their first glance at the 145,000-square-foot store.

There were rows and rows of perfectly stacked iPods, vitamins, chocolates and perfectly folded coats and towels -- all waiting for eager hands to rummage through the piles for the perfect purchase.

General manager James Dalton, who relocated from Halifax, said customers should look forward to the "treasure hunt that we always have."

The Bastian family is ready. "We're thrilled," said Ralph Bastian.
