Costco Shopping – June 22, 2018

 37th Costco shopping in 2018 – $302.97 (today) / $2175.48 (this year)

I bought a pair of eyeglasses at Costco. Bought a frame for the first time at Costco.

I’ve been hesitant to buy designer eyeglass frames at Costco, mainly because I was poor.  If I put enough time and effort, there is a chance that I can find the exact same frames online at considerable savings.  Back then, I was willing to invest great deal of effort and time so I can save money.  Actually, I couldn’t afford a designer frame, period.  Just a year ago, I was wearing a pair of eyeglasses that I paid less than $50 for both frame and lenses.

I finally I came to the conclusion that buying designer frames at higher cost at Costco can be a smart move – depends on financial situation and how easy it is to find the identical frames online.

Searching online for the frame I saw at Costco can be a grueling process.  It can take many months.  And you may never be able to find the frame.  Additionally, Costco will charge you $25 for bring in your own frame.  So, if you can, just buy at Costco and enjoy your new frame.  It’s not about going hell and back to save $50.  It’s about enjoying higher level of life-style, the reason why I love Costco.

At Costco, designer frames rotate fast.  Your perfect frames can sell out in a few days. It happened to me twice this year.  I went back after a few days to look at the frames again, but they were gone.  Each time, I was informed that designer frames sell fast.

So, this time, when I saw the frame I liked, I didn’t hesitate.  I picked up a pair of blue Zegna frame ($129.99).  After I paid for it, the lady showed me a pair of olive/green Prada.  She said I looked much better in Prada, which I agreed.  So, I paid the difference ($40) and ordered lenses for Prada instead.

Total price for frame and lenses was $299.98. The frame was $169.99.  I have never bought a pair of eyeglasses this expensive. I better look adorable in them. I believe in owning multiple pairs of eyeglasses so I can match my glasses with rest of my clothes (how I feel that day, etc..).

After ordering a pair of eyeglasses, I picked up a bag of celery on my way out.

Do you see how convenient Costco is?
