Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Welcome new visitors!  Smile

* As of August 23, 2010, this story is still developing.

FYI:  So far, 500,000,000 eggs have recalled.   This is 2% of all eggs produced in the US annually.

###

Story on nationwide egg recall is still developing. You may own tainted eggs and maybe they don't know about it.  I hope, by now, you have small amount of older eggs left that you can simply start with a new batch and forget about everything.

I eat 4 Costco eggs every day (4 whites, 2 yolks). I have never stopped eating Costco eggs since Salmonella outbreak.  I still have about a dozen older eggs and I intend to eat them all.

My eggs are packaged from Norco Ranch (Ca).  At first, I thought Norco Ranch eggs are safe.  Later, I learned that Norco eggs were pulled from the market as well (Related News).  Some reported getting sick after eating Norco Ranch bought from Costco.

So, at this point, I don't know what to say about this topic.  Some reports are not confirmed. Just be careful.   Keep up with the news and use common sense.  When it doubt, trash your eggs and start fresh.

Take care everyone.

Re: Egg Recall - Costco Eggs

We live in the Chicago suburbs. We received a recorded message to return the eggs we purchased last week on Friday 8/20.
They have all the purchasers in their computer system.

Re: Egg Recall - Costco Eggs

Thank you for letting me know.
I have updated my blog post because of your good info.
Thank you, thank you

John

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Those poor eggs. What a waste of packaging. Hope there aren't any deaths over this recall from the 2000+ cases.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

I had two eggs this morning as I do 5 out of 7 days a week. I purchased NORCO eggs from Costco yesterday and this morning after I ate them, I had severe pain, cramps and lose stools. Within hours, my stools turned black with a hint of green and my cramping got worse. It must be the eggs. I ate nothing else. From my online research, the black/green stools are signs of bile and pushing the "bad" food through my system before it can digest. Please add any information. Kevin

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Yikes, I have two full flats that I bought last week that are NORCO, they are going straight in the trash.. strange they are not on the list! Not worth it, they are not expensive enough to be worth your life! But then what is? Best to throw any eggs away and refrain from eating them till this clears up a bit!

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Hi

You are doing it right. I recommend people to follow what you do. Trash them and get a fresh batch. Or wait some more until everything gets cleared up.

But some of us (including me) are oblivious about it. One visitor told me he ate Costco 3 eggs this morning. I ate 4 Costco eggs today (I bought them 2 weeks ago).
It's a serious business.
But it's also pretty funny.

Good for you.
And good luck to people like me (yikes!)

Have a nice day~!!

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

I just ate threeeggs for breakfast, wish me luck!

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

THREE?!
Hahaha~!! I like your style.
I ate 2 this morning.
I will eat 2 more for lunch.

Good luck~!!

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Thank u for the support lol. I'm glad to inform u that it has been several hours since I consumed 3 eggs and I feel great. I think its safe to say that the 5 dozen Cal eggs I purchased from Costco in San Leandro, CA will be eaten with a smile.

Good luck everyone and happy egg eating.

Ryan

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Hahaha~ you feel great?
Can't argue with that.

But, seriously... I hope people don't get sick.
Including you.

Take care. Hahaha
(it's supposed to be not funny. but it's funny)

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Someone just gave me some eggs. Don't eat eggs that much. Haven't eaten eggs in a month or so. Too lazy to even look at the mark to see if they are the ones getting recalled.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Someone gave you the eggs?
I don't like the sound of that.
It sounds fishy.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

It's not from anywhere that's getting recalled. They were going out of town for a few weeks, so they gave me stuff from their fridge. That means not a lot of room in our fridge now and no Costco experience until we eat all that stuff up. Probably will give the eggs a try in something. Like I said, not a big egg eater in the first place.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

I see...
:)

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Just cook 'em and don't worry about it. Geez.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Amen to that.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

The news was filming a Costco yesterday and then interviewed a lady and she bought eggs. And she said she'll eat them still.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

I just called Norco Ranch and they have a recording regarding the recall. Only the 12 and 18-pack egg cartons are included in the recall, from the following plant #s:

P1026
P1156-187
P1413
P1663
P1720
P1860
P1942
P1946

The Plant Number can be found stamped below the sell by date.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Hey, thank you very much.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

It's Salmonella poisoning because the eggs weren't cooked all the way. Cook the eggs throughly and the eggs do not have to be thrown away.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Don't play with fire. Return the eggs and get fresh ones, you are handling potentially poisonous products as you prepare them to cook. Mayonaise anyone?

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

I am NOT proud to say this but..
I ate all my older eggs.

Finished.

Re: Costco Egg Recall from 23 Costco warehouses

Whew, glad i live in NJ and i am not on the list. I couldn't even think of hard boiling my eggs. I like the yoke nice and runny. I will think of all of you who are not going to be having eggs for the next few weeks while i am dipping my toast.
