Costco Breakfast

This was today’s breakfast.

Everything you see in this picture is from Costco. I try to eat good, but it’s not easy.  I often eat really bad lunch (with fries and all…).

Costco Shrimps at the Wedding

I went to a wedding today.  They had dinner catered from Wood Ranch.  Good stuff.

Anyway.
I was presently surprised to see some Costco shrimps on the kitchen table.  I had to grab some.   Costco shrimps completed my dinner.   Good stuff.

It was an incredible dinner.  I loved it.

First time using American Express Card

I used my new American Express card for the first time today.  After shopping, I even put gas in the car.   There was absolutely no line at the gas station.  Gas was $4.159 a Gallon.

The price on eggs was pretty good at $5.49 (5 dz).  This is a lot cheaper than $9.29 I paid 4 months ago. ($6.59 in April)

We are in grape season now.  So enjoy fresh graps while they last.

Costco Coupon Book (what’s left from my last shopping) saved me another $10.00.  So my total savings from this Costco coupon book is now $41.50.  Smile

Shopping with a Coupon Book

I love Costco coupons.  Today I saved $31.50 with Costco coupon book.

Everything I bought was something we absolutely needed, except for the M&M candies and the wicked long pillow in the back.  Today was Friday so I treated myself with a bag of M&M.  After working 70 hours (or more) this week, I think I deserve something sweet.

Costco Shopping Coupon

I was tempted to buy some sodas (Pepsi) with the coupon.  But I decided not to.  I try not to drink soda.  Also, I do not have that kind of money.  Sodas are bad for you anyway.

I was especially happy with Gillette Mach3 disposable shavers.  They have the same Gillette Mach3 blades, except the whole bodies are disposable.  The price on this 10 pack was better than buying 10 pack of identical razors (heads only, per item cost calculated).

I don’t have any work this weekend.  So, I’m going to relax and enjoy M&M as I work on my websites.  I don’t think I will use the razors ’til Monday morning. Smile

After shopping I went to El Pollo Loco to eat (next story).

Good day everyone.

Shopping at Costco – July 13, 2008

I had two meetings with customers today (Sunday).  I was in the neighborhood, and today was the last day I could use $10.00 coupon for Brita water filters.  After picking up Brita Filters, I picked up some food items as well.

Saving Money with Brita Water Filter:
Box of Brita Filters was $32.00 (after $10.00 coupon).  These 10 filters will last well over 1 year.  With this, I have a guaranteed supply of good tasting water.  I don’t buy bottled water.  I do not have a reverse osmosis water purification system. I believe Brita is the cheapest source for clean and tasty water.

Oh, and there is NO WAY I am buying water from one of those vending machines in front of supermarkets.  I don’t know about you, but I woudn’t drink that water if you pay me to.

July 3 shopping

Another Costco Blog.

I bought some booze, cake, ribs, and such to celebrate 4th of July.

Bamboo cutting boards were $15.99 for a set of two.  This is an incredible price.  I know the price of bamboo cutting boards.  You cannot find this kind of value anywhere.  I don’t know why I like bamboo boards at the first place. They tend to split in half.  Maybe because the ones I bought were too thin.  Maybe I don’t know how to properly maintain them.  These boards from Costco are pretty think.  I hope these will last.

PS. Later, I found out that I need to use some kind of oil to clean these bamboo boards.  Screw oil treatment, I will just buy new boards next time.

There are three bags of Jose’s coffee and syrups.

After 2 years, got 3 bags of butterscotch toffee coffee

I’ve been waiting over 2 years for Jose’s Coffee sales team to make a round at my Costco.

About 2 years ago, I bought a bag of Butterscotch Toffee flavored Coffee when there was a special coffee booth at Costco.  I normally do not tolerate flavored coffee.  I believe coffee should taste like coffee, not like candy.

But this particular coffee tasted like Christmas.  It’s quite enjoyable and cozy.  So I bought a bag.  Then I finished the bag pretty fast.  Since then I’ve been looking for Jose’s Butterscotch Toffee Coffee.  But I couldn’t find it anywhere.

For last 2 years, every-time I go to Costco, I would check coffee aisle very carefully for butterscotch toffee coffee.

Finally, today, I saw Jose’s Coffee booth at my Costco.  This time I asked a few questions to find out more.  They normally make round to our Costco about twice a year.  I must have missed them last two years.  They also have a mailing list that I can mail-order the coffee.  I also found out that their coffee products are Costco exclusive.

Anyway, I bought three bags of butterscotch toffee coffee and two bottles of syrups.  I spent roughly $50.00.  $50.00 seems like a lot of money for coffee.  But, considering a cup of coffee is over $2.00 at any coffee shops.. I am actually saving a lot of money this way.  I bet I spend a lot less in coffee than most people.

I can’t wait to enjoy Butterscotch Toffee coffee with Caramel Syrup.

Costco spoils me.  This is the point.  I spend less money, but I enjoy exclusive, high quality products.  It’s a good thing.

Shopping at Costco – June 26, 2008

It was a quick shopping trip.  I spent 41 minutes in there, in and out. Total bill was $145.55

Interesting new item was Arizona Iced green tea mix at $5.79.  It’s a new item.  I have a feeling I will love this tea mix.

So far, I bought about 12 of these short sleeves shirts (some at $15, some at $10.  There are different brands).  You can’t go wrong with these shirts.  They look proper to wear at work.  They are very comfortable that I wear them when I play or visit my mother’s house.

Wings of fire is my special treat.  I always fight my urge to buy Wings of Fire whenever I go to Costco.  I only buy them as a special treat about 2-3 times a year.  If I can, I would buy them about 10 times a year.

Shopping – June 16, 2008

Just another day at Costco, nothing special for today’s Costco blog.

5 dozen eggs were $7.39

There was $15.00 instant rebate on Sonicare brush (from $124.99).  I was very lucky because my old brush recently died.  My old brush was good for me for 5-7 years.  Sonicare tooth-brushes are very good.  If you don’t have them, you are missing out something fantastic.

You don’t compare Costco with a dollar store!

Whenever I see people talking about Costco, there are always people saying "I get similar items at dollar stores" or "I get better price at 99 Cents only stores".

I don’t understand what these people are thinking.  You simply cannot Compare Costco with dollar stores.

Obviously these people never used Kirkland Signature products.  They don’t know about higher level of life-style we are enjoying because of Costco.

Costco elevates my life-style.  It makes me to enjoy items that only rich people can afford.  I buy jumbo shrimps, imported beers, and organic soy milk, and much more.  I would never afford those items if there was no Costco.

Dollar store’s fruits and vegetables are not usable.  I feel sorry that some people must eat those to save money.  Fruits and Vegetables from Costco are far superior in quality compared to any supermarket products.

I shop at 99 Cents only stores frequently.  I like 99 Cents only stores too.  I buy instant noodles, candies, and miscellaneous items from 99 Cents only stores.  But 99 Cents store will not replace Costco.

You don’t compare Costco with Dollar stores.  Some people have no idea what they are missing out.

All out with a coupon book

I didn’t go to Costco for about 1 month.  My refrigerator was almost empty.  Then the new coupon book came out.  The coupon book featured all kinds of staple items.  It was my chance to stock up.  I knew it was going to be painful to my wallet.  I thought, I might as well enjoy.

The coupons saved me $38.25

Fruit and Nut Medley

I try to eat healthy.  So, instead of candy, I try to eat Fruit & Nut Medley by Kirkland Signature.

Fruit and nut Kirkland

Fruit and Nut Medley comes in a 56oz bag for $12.28

It contains following food items.

  • Peanuts
  • Almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Apples
  • Kiwi
  • Mangoes
  • Papaya
  • Pineapples
  • Strawberries
  • Bananas
  • Cherries
  • Golden Raisins

It’s Kirkland Signature (good quality food) I enjoy them too much.

2 Pancake Mixes – Regular & Fancy

Costco carries 2 pancake mixes.

  • Coach’s Oats – MultiGrain Pancake Mix
    4 pound – $7.79     $1.95 per pound
Fancy grains, need to mix egg & water.
  • Krusteaz – Buttermilk
    10 pound – $5.49    $0.55 per pound
Regular mix (still very good) – just add water.
  • Syrup used – Kirkland Signature Maple Syrup – $19.79

2 pancake mixes from Costco

I didn’t know which pancake mix to purchase, so I got them both.  But, clearly, I had a higher expectation on the expensive yet smaller pancake mix by Coach’s Oats.  Per pound, the Multi Grain Pancake Mix was 4 times more expensive than Buttermilk.

Krusteaz Buttermilk (cheaper, bigger one) has a classic pancake house taste.  This is a solid, good pancake.  You will not miss out on anything.

Coach’s Multigrain Pancake mix is different.  You may find this too fancy for your taste.  I can tell this pancake mix is high class with a lot of grain.  It’s grainy and breaks down easily.  This doesn’t have that classic taste.  It’s a very good pancake mix.  It’s richer and fancier compared to  Buttermilk.  But if you are craving for that classic pancake-house taste, this is not for you.

Personally, I am happy I got them both.  My next purchase will be the 10 Pounder (cheaper).   I like the price, taste, and the fact that it doesn’t require egg to prepare.

Update (May 24, 2011)

I don’t always see Coach’s Oats pancake mix at Costco.  But they periodically bring them back in stock.  So, watch closely when you are at Costco.

Costco Tote Bag, shopping bag

Costco tote bags are must have item.  If you don’t own them, you are missing out.  I mean, you are missing out big time.

They sell three bags for less than $5.00.  It’s roughly $1.50/bag.

At first, I thought Costco’s tote bags were supposed to be free for the members.  But if you really think about it $1.50 for a bag is a steal.

Costco Tote Back, shopping
Costco Tote-Bag. Simple design with hand straps and shoulder straps

Refer to above image.  Those three bags contain following items (carrots (10lb), potato (10lb), large watermelon, lemon (5lb), beef jerky (x2), cereal, bread (x2), shampoo, vitamins (x2), yogurt (18pk), tuna (16pk)

With Costco tote bags, a fit person can carry all those items in one trip (I did).  Try doing this with any other shopping bags or boxes from Costco.  It’s impossible to carry all that with conventional methods.  It’s well worth of investing a few Dollars on these bags.  If you live in an apartment this is a must.

I bring these bags to Costco when I shop, so the cashiers would put items in the bag.

Show this bag to your family and friends, I guarantee they would like to have some too.  I’ve already given them out.  I had to buy some more.
Below is why I like Costco tote bags.
