Simple Office Ergonomics – Mouse

I hope somebody would agree with me on this

At work, we have expensive office furniture. Everyone sits on a $600.00 Herman Miller office chair. I am saving money so I can buy one for my apartment.

Then I have this under the work desk. This keyboard tray has a built-in mouse pad. It looks like this. This may look very typical to most people, but it makes little sense to me.

Office Ergonomics

With the above setting, my right hand must move down to grab my mouse. This doesn’t make sense. We must raise the mouse up a little so it will be at the same level as the keyboard.

Something like this (below)

Office Ergonomics Mouse

This is how I set up my mouse at both work & home office. I raised up my mouse pad slightly. I think this the only way.

I don’t want my mouse too far away from my keyboard.
I want my mouse leveled with my keyboard.

Wash Your Ziplock Bags – Save Money

Your Ziplock bags are not for onetime use only. You must wash & reuse your Ziplock bags as many times as possible. These bags are very expensive. Recycle your ziplock bags.

This is how I wash my used Ziplock bags.

  1. Turn the bag completely inside out.
  2. Use dish soap and scrubber (soft side).
    • Lay the bag flat on the kitchen sink and scrub it with plenty of detergents (pay more attention if the bag used to hold blood).
    • Rinse inside the bag briefly (“inside” will become “outside” later)
  3. Dry the bag as is (the bag is still turned inside out).

A Christmas Gift to Myself

This is a Christmas gift I gave to myself.

It’s Das Keyboard – the best keyboard in the world.

I bought the “Ultimate” model. As you can see, the keyboard is completely blank.

It was $129.00, delivered from www.daskeyboard.com
It’s a little expensive, but a Christmas gift should be fancy.
I am loving this keyboard.

I spend 12-16 hours a day typing (programming & blogging). I am thinking about getting one for work as well. It’s a beautiful keyboard. The quality is amazing.

Broke my own sushi eating record

On November 26, 2008, I broke my old sushi eating record.

I always go to sushi with my co-worker for lunch. But he was too busy, so I went alone.

This is my glorious achievement. I ate them all.

* I am 5’7″, 155lb.

After Thanksgiving Shopping Spree – 2008

I wouldn’t dare going out for Black Friday shopping. The traffic & waiting game ain’t worth it for me. Black Friday shopping can be fun if you have a shopping buddy.

I went out shopping on Saturday, 2 days after Thanksgiving Day.

1. ROSS

I found medium size (32-34) Jockey underwear. A box of 3 was $5.99. So I bought 6 boxes – Basically, I grabbed everything with M sticker on it. Finally, my underwear worry is over (until 2013 ?).

Update – many years later, my underwear size is small. Something must have shrunk.

2. Costco
My shopping spree wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Costco. As a part of my current project ‘Shopping for a Bed’, I bought some pillows and a queen-size flannel sheet set. I also bought some new towels. They feel high class.

And I bought a pair of pants for work, 2 fleece shirts & 1 pair of fleece pants.

I ate a hot-dog in the car – there were so many people that I couldn’t find a place to eat outside.

4. Bed Bath and Beyond

Ah~! the glorious Thanksgiving steak sales

I think I have about 9 pieces of New York steak in the freezer (vacuum packed).

Then I saw this ad on T-Bone steak… $3.99/lb is the best price you will find anywhere. Ah~! the glorious Thanksgiving steak sales.

Ribeye, New York, and T-Bone each have their own unique taste. I like steaks with bones. The bones supposed to bring more flavor to the meat.

Day Old Coffee

Sometimes I don’t get to finish all the coffee I brew.

When I have left-over coffee, I don’t trash it. I keep it for the next day.

I keep my old coffee in the refrigerator. The next day, I put in some syrup and drink it cold.

I buy coffee syrups from Costco, but you can purchase coffee syrups only from Jose’s booth events. Jose’s sales team will visit your local Costco a few times a year. We don’t shop at Costco every day, so you may not get to see Jose’s Booth for years. You may have to call your local Costco for Jose’s schedule.
