I received a 2% executive membership rebate check.
Then American Express will send out their rebate check in February.
This check is redeemable only at Costco.
But, this year, I promised myself that I will put all my rebate checks into a savings account. So, I transferred $40.32 from checking to savings.
*This month, I put $330.00 into a savings account.

I think there are two sets of checks we get. 1 for the executive membership for Costco itself, then there is the Amex rebate check we get during February.

I upgraded my Costco membership to executive on August 13, 2010. And received check on Jan. So, I was an executive Costco member for 4 1/2 month when they sent the check.

2% executive membership rebate checks are sent out 2 months before your renewal is due. you should check how much you paid to upgrade. is this check more than what you spent to upgrade your card to the executive level? if you initially spent the $100 it costs for the executive membership, you should consider downgrading your card to the $50 gold star level, because the $40 rebate you received means you paid $60 for a year long membership when you could have paid $50.

Mm.. I’m sorry, I don’t have an answer for this. I hope you will receive the check. American Express may send out rebate checks in many different dates.

I haven’t received mine either. But I joined in the summer. So maybe I get it in the summer?

I did not notice my check in the January statement. I remember getting mine usually in May. Has the policy changed?

I am not a 100% sure. But I think everything you said is correct.

John…I had always assumed that the check needed to be spent totally at Costco. I was told last year though that if your purchase value is less than the Costco check, then you get the remainder back in cash. So you can buy one small item and take the rest back in cash. Just wanted to put that out there if anyone wasn’t aware.
